The purpose of the curriculum in Nursing and Allied Health is to prepare students with knowledge and skills to enter various specialty fields of employment in the Health Care industry. Students wanting to transfer to a university will be able to complete the necessary courses or be able to enter the workforce with either a degree or a certificate.

The Certified Nursing Assistant’s role as taught at CCC will focus on the adult population, which covers the basic concepts required to become a member of the health care team in long-term and acute care settings. These courses will prepare students to take the knowledge and skills examinations for the Arizona State board of Nursing (AZBN) and apply for an LNA license.

As part of the licensing process for licenses through AZBN and proof of legal presence (for CNA and LNA) are required and a background check with AZBN (only for LNA). Furthermore, if a person has been convicted of a felony, the person is not eligible to apply for licensure or certification with the AZ Board of Nursing until 3 years after the “absolute discharge” of the sentence. Please visit azbn.gov for more information.
